We believe that the ability to READ, WRITE and COMMUNICATE connects people and empowers them to achieve things they never thought possible. It truly is the basis of who we are and how we interact with the world.
Hello, Oklahoma Reading Association members and friends!
I am so honored to serve as ORA state president this year! We have an amazing Board of Directors and Regional Directors, and we are looking forward to an exciting year.
Our “kick-off theme” this year is “We are READERS!” I love to focus on the concept that our job as reading teachers is much bigger than just “teaching children to read”. Our task is to “Create READERS!” Our ultimate goal, in our interactions with students (no matter their ages) is to provide experiences so they develop self-efficacy and a belief about themselves of “I can do this!” (Thanks to our ORA past-president, Dr. Liz Willner from Oklahoma City University, for helping me to glimpse this vision!)
Oklahoma Reader has been updated to a digital publishing platform called Issue! The journal will continue as an open access to the most recent as well as archived issues. We hope you will enjoy this new reading experience to find the latest in best practices from around the state and nation.
